Calling all young writers
The Dymocks Beyond Words Competition is now open and on the lookout for Australia’s most creative and talented young writers! This exciting national competition is open to both primary and high school students, with a massive $20,000 prize pool up for grabs.
What’s involved?
Free to enter
Open theme: write about any topic, in any genre
Word count: 500–1500 words
Deadline: Entries close 1st June 2025
Whether your child enjoys writing fantasy, mystery, drama or comedy, this is their chance to share a story they’re proud of. Judges are looking for originality, emotion, and creativity – so encourage your young writer to be bold, imaginative and true to their voice.
Entries must be submitted online via the official competition page.
