Absence notification changes

school bytes logo

The method for reporting student absences online has changed. Starting this term, absence notifications should be reported using the School Bytes Parent Portal.

From Term 2 2025, our school will begin using the School Bytes Parent Portal to help manage student absences.

The School Bytes Parent Portal allows parents to view all their children in one portal and enables parents to provide details of a planned absence in advance - for example; to report an illness or a scheduled medical appointment.

Parents can also provide a response for any unexplained student absences that have been recorded by the school.

Register

For parents who don't currently have an account, follow the steps in the guide Parent Portal: Set up your parent portal account to help set up the Parent Portal.

Benefits

Once your School Bytes account has been activated, you can use the Parent Portal to:

  • manage absences
  • give consent for events
  • process online payments.

Absence reporting

To learn more about reporting student absences using the portal visit Parent Portal: Manage student absences.

Extended leave

For planned absences of 5 days or more involving travel, parents should submit an Application for Extended Leave - Travel form.

Partial day absences

Partial day absences cannot be notified online. Instead:

  • If a student arrives late, they should report to the school office to collect a late note before attending class.
  • If a student needs to leave early, parents should visit the school office to collect an early leaving slip before collecting their child. Office staff will then arrange for the child to be brought to the office.
