A message from our Chinese language teacher, Ms Ben Xin Ji
Dear Stanmore families,
Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, originated in China but has spread to various Asian cultures, including Vietnamese, Korean, Singaporean, Malaysian, and Indonesian, evolving into a global multicultural celebration.
Commencing with the New Moon on the first day of the lunar year and concluding on the Full Moon 15 days later, this year runs from February 10 to February 25, marking the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese Horoscope 2024. Dragons, mythical creatures embodying nine wise animals, symbolize strength, prosperity, health, and good fortune. Those born in the Year of the Dragon are known for their charisma, intelligence, confidence, and natural luck.
Celebrating my 25th year of teaching Chinese at Stanmore Public School, I extend gratitude to the Stanmore community for their enduring support of Chinese culture and language. Special thanks to Ms. Lopes and Ms. Poon for their unwavering support during the school’s annual New Year events.
Wishing everyone a prosperous new year and success for all Stanmore families.
Xièxiè (thank you),
From Ms. Ji
