Here’s a simple recipe that is healthy and delicious!
We tested this recipe with our teachers and their response was very positive. In fact, there were no bars left on the plate!
We think these Apple Bars will make a yummy snack in your child’s lunchbox.

Nutritious Apple Bars
Ingredients
2 cups quick cook oats
2 tablespoon chia seeds
1.5 teaspoon cinnamon
30 grams coconut oil or melted butter
3 apples pre cooked and puréed
1-2 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
Method
Preheat your oven to 180°C
In a medium bowl, mix the oats, chia seeds and cinnamon
Add the coconut oil/melted butter, apple purée and mix well
Line a baking tray (We used a 20 centimeter square cake tin)
Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish so that it is an even layer, it should be around 1.5-2 cm thick
Bake at 180°C for 25 mins, it should be firm to the touch but not hard
Cool and slice into square
