Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden heats up in Term 2

This term, our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program has been bursting with flavour, creativity and culinary fun.

In Term 1, Stage 3 fired up the pizza oven to bake an incredible 40 wood-fired pizzas for all their friends. The verdict? Absolutely delicious! Want to recreate the magic at home? Grab the pizza dough recipe below.

In Term 2 Kindergarten and Stage 2 students rolled up their sleeves to cook up a storm - students were hard at work crafting tasty snacks and seasoning blends - crushing herbs and creating delicious treats like kale crisps, rosemary seasoned popcorn and sweet garlic roasted carrots.

We also turned up the heat with our homemade Chilli Oil and Savoury Chilli Oil - both a big hit with students. These tasty condiments have added extra zing to our Vietnamese rice paper rolls, and this week, we stirred a spoonful into our hearty Minestrone Soup. Word clearly got out - 3M’s parent chat was buzzing with excitement as families searched the website for the recipe! Served with our Seriously Delicious Garlic Croutons, this soup is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Pleasurable food education is about children experiencing the joy of digging in the garden, picking fresh veggies, smelling and tasting the food they prepare and sharing the experience with their classmates.
