Celebrating Harmony Day

Harmony Day

On Wednesday, our school community came together to celebrate Harmony Day and Greek Independence Day at a special assembly.

The event highlighted the rich cultural diversity within our school and reinforced the values of inclusion, respect, and unity.

Students from Year 1 and Year 2 opened the celebration with a heartfelt performance of the Ghanaian song ‘Funge Alafiya,’ setting a warm and inclusive tone for the assembly. Stage 3 Mandarin students followed with a beautiful rendition of the contemporary Chinese song ‘Tian Mi Mi,’ showcasing their language and musical skills. Following tradition, the entire school united in song to perform our annual Harmony Day anthem, ‘Sharing a Home.’

Adding to the spirit of the day, Stage 2 and Stage 3 students delivered a moving performance of Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody’s iconic song, ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow.’ This powerful piece served as a reminder of resilience, reconciliation, and the importance of standing together as a community.

For those who may have missed this special performance, there will be another opportunity to hear ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’ next term during our NAIDOC Week assembly in Week 10.

Harmony Day was a fantastic celebration of the many cultures that make up our school community, and we look forward to continuing to foster inclusivity and respect throughout the year.
