Premier’s Debating Challenge 2024

Stanmore PS Red v Stanmore PS Blue

The topic for the debate was “that primary schools should run compulsory weekend sports competitions.”

Both teams performed well with the Red team taking the affirmative position and the Blue team the negative. With strong arguments from both sides the adjudicator awarded the debate to the Blue team on this occasion.

A huge congratulations to Stanmore Red (Isla S, Marlon C, Emily F, Eliza E), this was the first year of debating for the members of this team. They have demonstrated great resilience and with each debate their confidence and technical skills have developed.

This win for the Stanmore Blue team (Carter C, Roisin C, Maria P, Rachel R) has placed them in the finals of the Premier’s Debating Challenge for this year which is very exciting and we wish them the best of luck for their next debate.

The team would like to thank team reserve, Lisa O for stepping in on a couple of occasions on short notice and doing an outstanding job to help them progress to the finals.
