Thank you!

We value our library and the joy that reading brings our students and we know the students love our library too.

Each year our library teacher, Jan Metzner, runs a Book Drive to raise funds to help keep our library stocked with new books and replace worn copies of existing stock. The most popular books always wear out fast!

We ask families who are able to make a donation via our online Donation Form.

If you wish to donate, your child will be invited to the library at lunchtime during the week to choose the book(s) they want to donate. Your child’s name will go in the front of the books to acknowledge their contribution and they’ll also get to borrow the new books first to enjoy at home!

All donations help the school to provide quality library books for our students to enjoy for years to come.

Sponsor

This year our Book Drive is, once again, proudly sponsored by Jonathan Hammond of CobdenHayson who has generously donated $2,000 towards library resources for all our students.

Jonathan has volunteered to sponsor this event and other events at Stanmore Public School since 2016. This brings his total contribution to the school and our students to an amazing $49,100.

We thank Jonathan for his loyal support over the years.

Book Parade

On Thursday, August 24 we will be holding our Book Parade. Students can let their imaginations run wild and celebrate their favourite literary characters in costume.

This is always a fun event for the kids and costumes in previous years have been quite amazing. So put your thinking caps on and start preparing now.

Book Week Fun

To celebrate Book Week, Ms Metzner invites students to share photos of themselves enjoying books. There are two challenges to take part in:

Bookface Challenge

Students can take a photo of a book cover and cleverly incorporate themselves somehow. See some examples below as inspiration.

Caught reading...

Catch a photo of students reading in their favourite spot, or somewhere unusual perhaps (the more unusual, the better!). Below are some examples taken by families in 2021 during lockdown.

To take part in either of these challenges simple follow the link below and submit your entries via our website.

The best photos will be displayed on our website and in the newsletter at the end of Book Week.

Love Our Library

Our library is a place where our students come to read, relax and socialise.

Watch our video from 2020 to learn why the kids enjoy it so much.
