Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 11 February 2025 – is a global day of action dedicated to raising awareness of online safety to make the online environment safer for everyone.

Remember to always connect safely, reflect carefully and protect yourself and others when online.

With young people among the most vulnerable in today’s digital world, it is important to teach our children to be safe online. There are a range of resources available for parents and carers at  Cyber safe parents  page. This includes helpful information, webinars and resources to help families stay safe online.

There is also a great range of resources listed on protecting your information and securing devices as well as First Nations resources from the eSafety Commissioner.

Cybermarvel

The Cybermarvel program is a joint initiative of the NSW, VIC, TAS, ACT, SA and NT education departments. It takes direction from the  eSafety Commissioner’s Best Practice Framework for online safety education.  It aims to:

• build staff and students’ cyber safety awareness and skills
• inform parents and carers how to keep their family safe online
• encourage safe and positive online behaviours and experiences.

Other resources

• The DigiKnow Podcast Series is designed to be listened to by the whole family to spark conversations between young people and their trusted adults about online experiences.
• Alva’s World, an ABC TV series for children aged 5-8 and their families which sees Alva learn to safely navigate Gizmo, a world that echoes the internet.
• Mikki vs the World, an ABC TV series for pre-teens and teens as well as their families that sees Mikki and her assistant Jez call upon their team of experts to help break down some big issues.
• eSafety Commissioner resources for families, explore resources for families to help keep children and young people safer online.
