Drama
Why choose drama
Are your kids interested in acting? Could they be the next Margot Robbie or Chris Hemsworth? Our after school drama classes are the perfect place for them to explore their creativity and build confidence on stage.
Led by our talented drama teacher, Natalie Lopes, the classes take place in the school hall and are open to all students who love performing or want to try something new.

Instrumental Music Program
Why choose music
Being part of a school band adds valuable social and emotional benefits. Students learn to work as a team, follow directions, practise regularly and persevere when faced with challenges. They also develop confidence by performing in front of others and gain a sense of belonging through shared goals and achievements.
At Stanmore Public School we offer all our students an Instrumental Music Program.
Students in K-3 in 2026 can join the Junior string ensemble run by Darius Kaperonis.
Students in 4-6 in 2026 can join the Intermediate and Senior string ensembles run by Freya Schack-Arnott.
Students in 2-6 in 2026 can join the School Band run by The Music Partnership.

CodeCamp
Why choose coding
Through coding, children learn to test ideas, identify mistakes and improve their work through trial and error, helping to build resilience and a growth mindset.
Years 2 - 6
After-School Code Camp allows kids to hone their coding skills and keep practising through weekly sessions over the term!
Students will produce multiple games and apps using Code Camp‘s exciting online platform Code Camp World!
Code Camp have made Code Camp World as accessible as possible so students can truly focus on the fun aspects of coding and carry on their journey at home.
Each week students will choose the features they want to build, and advance their problem-solving skills to build these features using code. They will take ownership over their projects and collaborate with their peers to make awesome apps!

Chess
Why choose chess
Learning and playing chess helps primary school children develop critical problem-solving and strategic thinking skills while improving focus, memory, and patience.
It can also foster emotional resilience by teaching young children to handle wins and losses gracefully and encourages planning and logical reasoning, making it a valuable activity for cognitive and personal growth.
Learn to be a chess champion! Coaching for students at Stanmore Public School is held on:
Tuesdays from 3:10 pm to 4:10 pm
Beginners to intermediate all welcome.
Activities include group lessons on a demonstration chess board or interactive whiteboard, puzzle solving and fun practice games.
Students earn merit awards by making checkmates, or by displaying skills and positive qualities, which all good chess players strive to develop.
Each student in the Chess program will also receive access to Chess Squad (chesssquad.com) which is an online teaching/playing platform.

Art Classes
Why choose art
After-school Art Classes have returned to Stanmore Public School.
Art and creative projects let students develop problem-solving abilities and confidence in expressing their ideas. Art also encourages imagination, curiosity and independent thinking, while providing a positive outlet for emotions and self-expression. Working on creative projects can help children build patience, resilience and focus, as well as a sense of achievement and pride in their work.
Most importantly, art allows children to explore their unique talents in a fun, supportive and engaging environment.
Led by practising artist Lauri Smith (Bachelor of Fine Arts, COFA UNSW), these fun and engaging classes give students the opportunity to explore a variety of creative visual art projects while developing their skills and confidence.
