Mini Marathon fundraiser

15 Jun 2026

Twenty-five Stanmore students are lacing up their running shoes and preparing to take on the 2026 TCS Sydney Mini Marathon, and they’re running for a great cause.

A team of Year 5 and 6 students, supported by five Stanmore teachers and led by Ms Sarah Barratt, will be raising funds for The Run Beyond Project. This inspiring program helps young people set ambitious goals, build resilience and develop the confidence to tackle challenges both on and off the running track.

The Mini Marathon will take place on Saturday 29 August and sees thousands of participants run 5km through the heart of Sydney, starting on Macquarie Street and finishing at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Designed for runners of all ages and abilities, it is one of the highlights of Sydney’s biggest running weekend.

As our students train for the event, they are learning valuable life skills including commitment, perseverance and goal setting. These lessons will stay with them long after race day.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm our students have shown so far. Families who would like to support the team can sponsor our runners, with all funds raised going directly to The Run Beyond Project.

Even better, any student is welcome to register for the Mini Marathon and run as part of the Stanmore team. Whether you're a seasoned runner or taking on your first 5km challenge, we'd love you to join us and be part of this exciting community event.
