Sustainability Expo 2025
19 Dec 2025
Our Waste Warriors enjoyed a fun and inspiring day learning about sustainability at the Coal Loader.
Two weeks ago, Waste Warriors from Years 3 to 6 attended Observatory Hill Environmental Education Centre's Sustainability Expo at the Coal Loader, Waverton. School leaders in sustainability from high schools across Sydney ran creative workshops for primary students from schools such as Kegworth PS, Drummoyne PS, Seaforth PS, Campsie PS and Alexandria Park. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain further knowledge in sustainability practices and to spark ideas to introduce at Stanmore Public School.
They attended four workshops during the day and participated in the Coal Loader Quest during recess and lunchtime. In their feedback to the centre, students said their favourite workshops were Tote-al Reuse (painting reusable tote bags with a sustainability message), making reusable Christmas paper at Santa's Sustainability Printshop and Sock Safari. The high school leaders said they were impressed by the depth of sustainability knowledge our students already had.
It was an extremely hot day and our students did Stanmore Public School proud. We also won a prize for getting the key word in the Coal Loader Quest. Well done everyone.
