Students take to the Opera House stage
08 Aug 2025
This week, Stanmore’s own Akira (5/6L) and Xander (5/6H) have been performing on one of the world’s most iconic stages – the Sydney Opera House.
Both talented musicians, Akira on cello and Xander on viola, are members of The Art Unit's NSW Public Schools Festival Orchestra, accompanying more than 2,000 student choristers from across the state in the Department of Education’s Festival of Choral Music.
Later this term, Akira and Xander will return to the Sydney Opera House to perform again as part of the Festival of Instrumental Music. They'll be performing feature pieces with the NSW Public Schools String Sinfonia, showcasing their skills to audiences each night.
Congratulations to Akira and Xander on representing Stanmore Public School with such talent and dedication.
