Students explore culture through dance
21 May 2026
Stanmore students Eliza, Khloe and Isaac recently enjoyed a special day of culture, movement and connection at an Aboriginal Dance Workshop held at Marrickville West Public School.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of hands-on cultural activities led by Aboriginal knowledge holders. They learnt traditional Torres Strait dances, played language-based games and explored ways to ground themselves and connect to Country through movement and mindfulness. One of the highlights was learning and performing a cultural dance that followed the story of the emu.
Another highlight of the workshop was the opportunity to meet and learn alongside students from other schools. Through dance, storytelling and shared experiences, the day created meaningful connections and a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal culture.
Eliza, Khloe and Isaac represented Stanmore Public School beautifully and enjoyed this valuable and meaningful experience.
