NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee 2025

19 Aug 2025

On Monday 18 August, two of our students proudly represented Stanmore Public School at the Regional Finals of the 2025 NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee.

Our Junior finalist, Matilda Simon (3M), performed exceptionally well, correctly spelling the words learntwilightluxury, and  burgundy  in the first four rounds. She was eventually eliminated in Round 5 on the unseen word foray.

In the Senior division, Phoenix Maguire-Ward (5/6L) (runner-up from our school final) stepped in as our school’s representative after our original finalist, Oli Apoifis, was unable to attend. Phoenix rose to the challenge with confidence, spelling slothconsulate, and  molecular  correctly before being eliminated in Round 4 with the word chlorophyll.

Congratulations to both Matilda and Phoenix for their fantastic efforts and for representing our school so proudly at the Regional Finals.
