Practising mindfulness at home can help children build focus, resilience, and a positive mindset.

Mindfulness is a simple yet powerful way for families to support their children’s wellbeing at home.

It means paying full attention to what you’re doing, without rushing or multitasking. It’s about slowing down, focusing in a calm way, and really noticing the moment, whether that’s reading together, chatting at dinner, or lining up a basketball shot in the driveway.

Practising mindfulness at home can help children pay attention better, stay calm under stress, and approach challenges with confidence. It also encourages patience, kindness, and enjoyment of the little things in life.

A few minutes each day can make a big difference and it’s something the whole family can enjoy together.

How do children benefit from mindfulness?

Being mindful helps children:

  • pay attention better
  • be less distractible
  • learn more
  • stay calm under stress
  • avoid getting too upset about things
  • slow down instead of rushing
  • listen better to others
  • be more patient
  • get along better
  • feel happier and enjoy things more
