Celebrating Greek Easter
01 May 2026
Students experienced Greek culture through games, traditions, and delicious treats.
Greek Easter came alive at Stanmore Public School, as students gathered to celebrate and experience this important cultural tradition.
Guided by Ms Vezos, students took part in tsougrisma, the traditional red egg cracking game. With each turn students enjoyed shared the greeting “Χριστός Ανέστη” (Christ is Risen). Students also enjoyed tasting koulourakia, classic Greek Easter biscuits, adding a delicious touch to the celebration.
Greek Easter is one of the most significant events in the Greek Orthodox calendar. Traditions such as red eggs, special foods, and shared activities bring families and communities together.
This celebration gave students a meaningful opportunity to connect with Greek culture through hands-on learning. It also highlighted the richness of our school community and the value of sharing traditions with one another.
Our Kitchen Garden program allows our students to take part in pleasurable food education teaching students to grow fresh, seasonal produce and use it to prepare nutritious, delicious food.
