This term in HSIE (History and Geography), Stage 1 students are exploring the connections Aboriginal Peoples have to Country. We are learning how spiritual, cultural and physical responsibilities shape these important relationships.
Today in 1P, we investigated our first significant Aboriginal site in NSW, the Brewarrina Fish Traps. Students learnt about the Dreaming Story connected to this significant site, including the origin of the fish traps and how they were constructed and used by Aboriginal Peoples.
Throughout the remainder of the term, Stage 1 students will continue to explore how stories, objects and significant sites provide evidence of the rich histories, cultures and traditions of Aboriginal Peoples, who belong to the world’s oldest continuous living cultures.
Our library isn’t only a place where students come to read, it’s a quiet and calming environment where students can relax and socialise with friends.
