Strategists compete in Stanmore’s 2025 Chess Championship

01 Dec 2025

The Chess Championship showcased focus, resilience and a love of strategic thinking across all year groups.

Last week, some of our top young strategists gathered for the Stanmore Public School Chess Championship. Over several rounds, players showed impressive focus, patience and strategic thinking. It was a wonderful day of friendly competition.

A huge congratulations to our trophy winners. Darcy T claimed 1st Place with an outstanding 6/7, while Felix H-K and Xavier L earned 2nd and 3rd Place with strong 5/7 results on tiebreak. Their calm play and smart moves stood out across the day.

We also celebrated our medal winners across two age categories. In Years 4–6, Miles D won Gold, Avery H took Silver, and Alec R received Bronze, each finishing on 5/7. In Years K–3, Tristian H earned Gold with 4/7, Max E took Silver with 4/7, and Max L claimed Bronze with 3.5/7.

Every participant showed dedication, resilience and excellent sportsmanship. We are proud of our young chess players and can’t wait to see them continue to grow their skills in future tournaments.
