NSW State Gymnastics success

Stanmore student, Lucas Hafford-Deboer (3/4A) won first place in the Level 4U Men’s Artistic Gymnastics competition at the NSW Junior State Championships.
Last weekend, our very own Lucas Hafford-Deboer (3/4A) competed at the NSW Junior State Championships, held on 15–16 November at the Sydney Gymnastics Centre in Rooty Hill. Lucas won first place in the Level 4U Men’s Artistic Gymnastics competition!
This is a fantastic achievement for a young athlete, and it’s a reminder of how sport plays such a valuable role in our students’ lives. Gymnastics isn’t just about strength and skill, it also builds focus, balance, and self-esteem. As children master new routines, they face challenges, set goals, and learn the rewards of hard work and persistence.
Beyond the medals, being active supports children’s mental health and resilience. Physical activity has been shown to boost emotional intelligence, reduce anxiety, and build resilience, helping kids bounce back when things get tough.
When kids move their bodies and take part in structured activities like gymnastics, they also build skills like perseverance and self-confidence, skills that benefit them in the classroom, at home, and in everyday life.
Our school community supports its students, both in their studies and in their passions outside the classroom. We’re always proud to see our students overcome challenges and succeed in all their endeavours.
