Library Lovers' Day

Friday, February 14 is national Library Lovers' Day, a day to honour libraries, librarians, and books, and the valuable role that libraries play in our lives.

This event was started by the State Library of New South Wales, in 2006 and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) joined the campaign in 2007.

Love our library

Think of the school library as the beating heart of the entire educational vibe. It’s not just a room with books; it’s an escape pod from the daily grind of schedules, daytime drama, recess madness, and classroom hustle.

It’s a haven where students can immerse themselves in the world of knowledge and imagination, free from the ticking clock. It’s a safety zone to unwind, catch up with pals, engage in intellectual banter, hit the books, channel their inner artist, and maybe sneak in a bit of game time (shh, don’t tell the teacher!).

Especially when the weather’s playing games or students need a breather from the chaos of the playground, the school library is a secret fortress. It’s the place where creativity and mindfulness are the VIPs, ensuring they get that perfect blend of learning and relaxation.

Why we love our library!

Last year we asked students to tell us what they enjoy most about our library. Here’s some of their feedback.

“ I love the library because it’s always quiet and peaceful. There is always a book I want to read. And so, the library is always a place I will go to relax. ♥️ ”
