Celebrating play on World Children’s Day
20 Nov 2025
This year, celebrate World Children’s Day by recognising every child’s right to play.
Join communities around the world in celebrating World Children’s Day on 20 November. This year marks 36 years since the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted, a reminder that every child deserves a safe, healthy and happy childhood.
This year UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) are celebrating one of the most important rights of all: the right to play. Play helps children learn, grow, build friendships and develop confidence. At our school, we see every day how play supports learning and wellbeing, both inside and outside the classroom.
While millions of children globally still miss out on safe spaces to play, our school community is committed to protecting this right. NSW’s recent child-safety reforms also strengthen protections for young learners and ensure children’s best interests guide every decision in early childhood education and public schools.
We’re grateful to all our educators and staff who make our school a safe and welcoming place for every child. Together, we help students get the best start in life and uphold the values at the heart of our school community.
Families can learn more about child-safe practices and what to look for in early learning services through the NSW Department of Education’s resources.
